Abu Hurayrah Radi Allaho Anh narrated that Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam ordered a doctor to incise an abscess on the abdomen of a man. He was asked, "Does medicine help, O Messenger of Allah" (Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam), He said:  “He Who Has Sent down the disease Has also Sent down whatever He Wills of the  Cure."   Prophet's guidance on curing Diarrhea Prophet's Guidance on treating conjunctivitis with rest and observing a special diet   We mentioned that Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam required Suhaib Radi Allaho Anh to observe a diet from eating dates when he was suffering from conjunctivitis, and asked Ali Radi Allaho Anh when he was suffering from the same condition. Furthermore, Abu Naeem narrated in his book, "The Prophetic Medicine", "Whenever any of the Prophet's wives would come down with conjunctivitis, he would not touch her until her eyes were cured". Conjunctivitis is an infection that attacks the conjunctiva; that is the white part of the eye. The disease is caused by one of the four conditions [hotness, coldness, dryness and wetness], or by the accumulation of hot flatulence in the head and body, that later reaches th...

Introduction to Islamic ways of treating diseases/ailments

Sunnah of prophet Muhammad (SAW) peace be upon him. Many Muslims are well aquatinted with the Sunnah of the prophet as a terminus technical and all that it stands for in Muslim history and legal thought. How many though, one wonders by trying to model their lives on the Sunnah everyday, from morning till night. They almost complete adoption of the "modern", that is, Western way of life by many people of Muslim origin suggest that the number is small indeed.  Nevertheless, it is accepted among Muslims that the Sunnah is the key to understanding the message of the Holy Qur'an and to the implementation of the guidelines and laws laid down in it. While reviewed scripture explains the basic principles and laws of Islam as a way of life, the Sunnah teaches Islam through explanation and demonstration of those principles and laws; it makes them parts of man's experience by showing how they work in practice. The Sunnah is thus indispensable if one wants to practice Islam and...
